If I were to explain what plain English writing is to someone, the best way to describe it would be is putting the writing you are creating in the clearest way possible to avoid any possible confusion while also not totally dumbing down the information at hand. Plain English writing is a technique of writing that benefits readers because it almost immediately tells the readers all the information that they need to know, and it can help these readers very quickly understand what you are trying to say. Instead of filling your writing with words and sentences that could possibly relate to the point you are trying to get across but may also be not so necessary, plain English writing does the opposite of that and gets rid of everything that can confuse the reader to offer the best possible reading experience to anyone who wants to take the time out of their day to read into what you have to say. Plain English writing is just the most effective way of getting your message across without confusion. No big words, no complicated sentences that run the risk of not being understood, and no real confusion are all examples of things that plain English writing does well, and at the end of the day its just beneficial to everyone. Beneficial to readers because they get the information they are actually looking for, and the writers and the company because they are benefitting from not confusing their potential readers and customers. Plain English writing is also meant to be written for the reader, which can help bigger companies sort of make a connection between the reader and the writer. Using pronouns in plain English writing is a great way to accomplish this, and its a common practice in this type of writing style to utilize the pronouns a lot.
